Testimonials.
Carina goes from Receptionist to Training Manager in just five years!
Formally trained as a chef, Carina's family and social commitments meant she needed a much better work/life balance. So, in 2001 she accepted a job with Friendship Care and Housing as a Receptionist/Administrator.
With continued encouragement she took full advantage of the personal development opportunities on offer and gradually climbed the career ladder.
In 2003, Friendship invested heavily in Carina's personal development by enrolling her onto a Modern Apprenticeship course in Administration. Not only was she doing worthwhile work and putting something back into society, she was gaining qualifications recognised in any industry!
Friendship continued to encourage Carina to progress and develop her knowledge and skills. This helped her to gain an even deeper understanding of the business. More than this though, it helped her feel valued and respected as a frontline worker. And to widen her knowledge even further she undertook many temporary secondments in various roles during 2004-05, including Tenancy Management Worker, Customer Advisor and Training Officer.
In 2006, she progressed to her current role as Training Manager and she's now studying for a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualification. All this in only five years since joining the housing sector as an administrator!
Carina puts it best herself:
"I find my job both challenging and hugely rewarding - particularly as I now have the opportunity to actively encourage others to develop their careers within the organisation in much the same way as I was encouraged."
