Home is where the Midland Heart is for Sam Farrall.

As a mother of two small children, a senior role as a HR Operations business partner could have proved a challenge too far for Sam’s family.

Luckily, when her daughter started school in September, Sam’s manager allowed her to shorten her working day so she could drop her little girl off each morning. Once she’d settled in to school life, Sam’s working hours returned to normal.

Sam was spending a lot of her time in the car, commuting to and from work, and not with her kids. And once her manager became aware of this, it was suggested she work two days a week from home.

“This has had considerable impact upon my home life. It’s reaffirmed my belief that the housing sector is all about caring for people. And that my association is interested in what I can deliver and will help me anyway they can to do it.”
