Michael Pritchard, former 'HomeZone Personal Development' award-winner keeps up the good work.
Michael began his housing career in 1995 as a warden. After six successful years he was offered a temporary position as an area housing officer. This proved a great move, and he was soon offered the role permanently.
Always a popular figure with tenants and colleagues alike, it wasn’t long before Michael’s people skills were rewarded with a unique client-facing position. And two years later, he was promoted to his current role: Community Development Co-ordinator. A hugely varied job, one day he could be attending a ‘customer involvement meeting’, and the next developing a community garden project. So, ongoing training and development is as important now to Michael, as it was when he first joined the housing sector.
That’s why HomeZonehave supported Michael’s learning and development along every step in his career path. They've twice sponsored him to undertake professional qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Housing. They’ve even helped him to develop highly specialised skills such as sign language. But don’t just take our word for it. This is what Michael has to say:
“There are many opportunities to develop a career if you are prepared to push yourself forward. HomeZonevalues its employees and the skills they can bring to the organisation. My colleagues are great and it’s a pleasant company to work for - it’s definitely worthwhile getting out of bed in the morning!”
Both Michael and HomeZonerealise the sector isn’t simply about houses anymore. It’s about communities – so everybody matters. Things are expanding at a phenomenal pace. And training helps him manage the expectations of tenants and regulatory bodies.
