More about Helena Partnerships

Helena Partnerships is a housing association based in St Helens, Merseyside. It was formerly known as Helena Housing, an organisation that was set up in 2002 following a stock transfer of 13,000 homes from St Helens Council.

In the first six years of Helena’s life, they have achieved a lot and really found their feet as a company. They have delivered on the promises made when they started – beginning with a massive programme of refurbishment to all their homes.

Because Helena Partnerships are committed to being ‘more than just a landlord,’ they have also invested strongly in their communities. They have funded dozens of exciting community-based projects and initiatives, 270 at the last count, promoting healthy living, tackling anti-social behaviour, and created many jobs and training opportunities.

Their aim has been to provide a better experience for their customers, improve services and value for money – and make a real difference in their neighbourhoods.

With the change to Helena Partnerships in July 2008, they want to show that they’re more than just a housing company. They’re about providing high quality homes for thousands of people, but they’re also about creating places where people choose to live, work and enjoy themselves.

Working for us

At Helena Partnerships, they want to provide jobs that are rewarding, challenging and enjoyable. They want to give our people the opportunity to do their jobs to the best of their ability. That’s why Helena Partnerships want to make sure they provide all our employees with the right jobs, the right learning and development opportunities, the right working environments and the right tools and equipment.

They have worked very hard to create a positive culture within Helena Partnerships where people understand the aims of the company and their own role in achieving those aims. We have an innovative approach to our partnership with the trade unions, our internal communications and our learning and development. Helena have called this approach “Team Helena” because we are committed to learning, developing and succeeding together.

Living the Helena Partnerships brand

Developing the Helena Partnerships brand to reflect their energy, commitment and people focus, people who do business with them have told them that these are the things they have grown to expect from Helena people. In their first six years, Helena has built a very strong reputation based on passion and positive attitude. They believe that by building on these strengths, they can secure the future success of Helena Partnerships. To help them, Helena Partnerships have developed a series of behaviours they want to use to build an inspirational team.

To be passionate about what you do

We are all different, and have different ways of showing passion. The key thing is for you to be enthusiastic and have some fun!

Have a real people focus

Helena Partnership’s business is all about people; their homes, their neighbourhoods and their communities. Whatever job you do, you need to put people at the centre of what you do.

Have a can do attitude

It’s important to show Helena Partnerships' customers and partners that “we believe that we can”. If we are to deliver great results, we need to have a can do attitude.

Act with integrity

We all have different beliefs and values. Helena Partnership expects your behaviour to be consistent with their company values. This means being honest, trustworthy and keeping our promises.

It’s that simple. If everyone across ‘Team Helena’ has the right attitude, and behaves according to these four key behaviours, we can treat each other with respect, build a great team and, most importantly, make a great place to work.
