Young People targeted by Fusion event.

01/02/07

So Solid Crew member MC Romeo recently attended ‘Fusion’, an information day run by housing association Community Housing Group (CHG).

The event held at the Roundhouse in Camden targeted young residents living in supported accommodation, offering them help and advice on a number of issues including, housing, education, recruitment and training, education, drugs, alcohol, sexual health, parenting and children.

Free travel and crèche facilities were available and those who attended were able to enjoy live music performances as well as complimentary food and soft drinks.

Speaking at the event, Kevin Bernie, Director of Housing Care and Support at CHG said “Working with young people is something that CHG is heavily focused on and plans to continue. New services are being opened and old ones upgraded so that we can maintain the excellent service provision that our HCS department has become known for. This event is the first of many offering free information and support to the young people in our supported housing projects.”

Guest-speaker MC Romeo added, “Events like this are important to young people who can often feel isolated from the rest of the community. They have been given the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation and get information and advice on issues that really affect them in their day-to-day lives.”

CHG is planning to hold similar events quarterly as a way of continually engaging young people who live in its supported housing projects.
