Green light for environmentally friendly borough.
07/04/08
The Dane Housing Group and Congleton Borough Council have formed an eco- partnership to help combat climate change within the Borough. Their wide ranging proposals include reducing energy use within the home, tackling local fuel poverty and improving the local environment.
Dane, the Council and partners recognise that reaching out to local residents, and advising on how they can become more environmentally friendly in their homes, neighbourhoods and communities, is an important first step on this path to a greener future for the Borough. Therefore a series of information activities within the community will be offered throughout this year, to provide local residents with advice, for example, on how to access grant funding to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Dane aims to refurbish some of its homes with renewable energy measures, such as solar panels and alternative heating source, in order to demonstrate how residents can reduce their fuel bills at the same time as their impact on the local environment. Anne Ward, Chief Executive of The Dane Housing Group says,
“This is certainly an exciting opportunity for us to work with partners and residents across the Borough to tackle this major issue of climate change; the potential of our combined effort is huge. At the same time, we can offer very practical advice to residents on becoming more environmentally friendly, saving energy and reducing fuel bills.”
