Affordable living made easy.

With many people finding it difficult to set foot on the first rung of the property ladder, Festival Housing Group is on a mission to keep their rents as low as possible. And they're achieving this by building new and affordable properties. And to this end work is well underway on a new £290,000 rented housing scheme in Malvern Link, Worcestershire. The new homes are being built on an area previously used for car parking which did suffer from vandalism and nuisance behaviour. When complete in September it will provide local people with three, two-bedroom bungalows and two flats in one road and two, two-bedroom bungalows for rent in another.

Funding of £82,000 was provided by the government-backed Housing Corporation and Festival Group member Elgar Housing Association will manage the properties when complete in December 2007.

Vicki Wright, Development Manager leading on the initiative commented:

"The new homes will help address the great shortage of affordable housing in Malvern, and is a good example of the Association using its own resources to bring forward new developments."
