Football trophy for Birmingham Foyer.

11/12/06

Birmingham Foyer took home the Foyer Federation five-a-side trophy for the second year in a row, after winning the tournament held in Aston recently.

Young people from Foyers across the UK took part in the annual competition which is organised by Focus Futures. Foyers provide accommodation and support to homeless young people between the ages of 16 and 25.

Twenty teams, which included a mixture of male and female players, entered the tournament. Focus Futures (part of Midland Heart Housing and community investment group) put forward four teams, including the winners from Birmingham Foyer.

They beat Hereford Foyer's team 5-2 in the final. They also took home the Golden Boot for scoring the most goals, after Luke Fuller put a total of 27 in the back of the net. Foyers aim to help young people escape the 'no home - no job - no job - no home' cycle. They support people into independent living by helping them find employment, training and education, and by teaching life skills.
