The Greenhouse Effect.

26/10/07

The grass really is greener working at Festival Housing Group. They're currently installing more efficient heating systems into each of their 8,500 properties. It's all part of their mission to reduce their carbon emissions organisation-wide. But this is just the beginning; the other energy efficient initiatives already in the pipeline include loft insulations, new windows, boilers, cavity insulation, external wall insulation and low energy lightbulbs.

This puts Festival foremost amongst housing associations trying to curb excessive fuel consumption and protect the environment. And all this energy efficiency can only be good news for their tenants, as they see their household bills continue to redcue.

Festival Director, Richard Grounds, explained:

"Festival is encouraging energy efficiency by taking these measures which we hope will help the environment and cut tenants' fuel costs. We are replacing coal and electric-powered heating systems with 'greener and cleaner' oil and gas systems. This is an ongoing programme of work which has so far resulted in saving 491 tonnes of Co2 emissions a year."
