When Yvonne Hatton started out as a care worker on one of Derwent Living's retirement schemes in Nottingham - she never imagined that she would end up in management.

Yvonne, 34, started out with the Derby housing provider in 1993 as a care worker at The Herons retirement living in Toton. Now, 14 years later, she has been appointed scheme manager at Raleigh Park, the company's major student accommodation site in Nottingham with 1,167 bed spaces.

After The Herons, Yvonne went to work at the company's Nottingham office in Nuthall Road as a customer service advisor - before going on to be a housing assistant. She then became a student co-ordinator before becoming a student executive - and then was recently made scheme manager at Raleigh Park, the site of the old Raleigh factory.

Derwent Living is certainly in her blood - and if those six roles to success weren't enough, Yvonne works for the company at the weekends at schemes all over the Midlands, selling its Easy living part-buy, part-rent properties

"I have certainly worked in many roles" says Yvonne, who is from Heanor.

"My latest job means I manage a team of six to look after more than 1,000 students. It's a demanding but enjoyable role. As a team we work really well together and provide an excellent service to students. I love the job as it's so varied."

"Derwent Living has given me a lot of personal development and training and has encouraged me to move up and have given me support all along" says Yvonne.

"I have learned an incredible amount. Everything I have learned in the various teams along the way has stood me in good stead. By working throughout the organisation, you realise how you impact on other teams."
